About this internship
From DIPAS's advertisement DIPAS/HRD/Paid Internship/01/2027 (dated 19 October 2026): internships are offered in Mechanical Engineering (3 places), Computer Science (1), Electronics (2) and Electrical Engineering (2), at DIPAS in Delhi and at DIBER, its research cell in Haldwani. The internship lasts six months from 1 January 2027, and interns must be present at the office at least 15 days a month.
The stipend is ₹5,000 a month, paid in two equal parts of ₹15,000 after 3 months and after 6 months, based on a technical evaluation, straight into your bank account. Lodging, boarding, transport and medical costs are your own. Interns who do not complete the full period get no certificate.
Apply by emailing the scanned application (Appendix A, which can be downloaded from the DRDO careers page) to hrd.dipas@gov.in, naming the branch in the subject. Only email is accepted: applications by hand or by post are not considered. Selected students are told by 15 December 2026 and must bring a No Objection Certificate from their college, a police verification and other documents when they join.
Who can apply
- Indian nationals only
- Full-time B.Tech or B.E. students who have finished the 3rd year (6th semester) or will finish it by December 2026, going into the final year
- Or full-time M.Tech or M.Sc. (Electronics) students who have finished the 1st year (2nd semester) or will finish it by December 2026
- Students with a backlog (a failed exam) in any earlier semester cannot apply
