Frequently asked questions

How is a marks percentage worked out?

Total marks you got divided by total marks possible, times 100. Add every subject, then divide. Do not average the subjects' percentages, because that gives a different answer when subjects are out of different totals.

How does the marks needed for a target work?

Enter the marks you have, the total they were out of, and the marks still to be given. It tells you how many of those remaining marks you must score to reach your target percentage, or whether the target is out of reach.

What is the difference between percent and percentage points?

Going from 40% to 60% is 20 percentage points, but a 50% increase. Percent change compares the new value with the old one.

Does my university round the percentage?

Some do and some do not. This tool shows the exact value. Follow your university's rule for the official figure.
