Frequently asked questions
Can it open a PDF if I forgot the password?
No. You need the password to unlock a file. If you forgot it, ask the person or company who sent the file. A password cannot be guessed reliably, and this tool does not try.
The PDF opens, but I cannot print or copy from it. What now?
Some PDFs open without a password but have locks on printing, copying or editing. Choose the file and press Remove the locks. No password is needed. Use this only on files that are yours or that you are allowed to open.
What is the password of my Aadhaar or PAN PDF?
For an e-Aadhaar it is the first 4 letters of your name in capital letters followed by your year of birth, for example RAVI1999. For an e-PAN it is your date of birth as day, month and year with no gaps, for example 05031999. Bank statements and other papers each have their own rule, usually in the email or SMS that came with the file.
Will the new PDF look the same?
Yes. Only the password and the locks are removed. The pages, the pictures and the selectable text stay as they were.
Are my PDF and my password uploaded?
No. The work happens in your browser, so the file and the password stay on your phone or computer.
