Frequently asked questions
Why does an upper age of 32 not allow someone who is exactly 32?
Most notices say a candidate must not have completed the upper age on the cut-off date. So for 21 to 32 on 1 August 2026, you must be born on or after 2 August 1994. Someone born on 1 August 1994 completes 32 on the cut-off day and is out.
How do the relaxation years add up?
The category years (OBC 3, SC or ST 5) and the disability years (10) are added, so a person in SC with a benchmark disability gets 15. Ex-servicemen and other groups have their own rules, which you can add under other relaxation.
Are the exam rules here up to date?
They were read from the official notices of 2026 and the source link is shown for each exam. Age rules can change in every notice, so compare the birth dates shown here with the ones printed in your notice.
Does it check my number of attempts or qualification?
No, only age. Attempts, qualification and nationality are separate rules in the notice. For UPSC the attempts rule is listed under the exam's notes.
