Resume & career100% freePrivate

The short answer

At these levels tax starts to matter. The 12 LPA fixed offer leaves about ₹91,876 a month. The 14 LPA offer with 4 lakh variable leaves ₹74,889 to ₹1,02,843. The fixed part of offer B is only 10 lakh, so without the variable it pays ₹16,987 less.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the extra CTC not turn into extra take-home?

Part of it is variable and may not be paid, and the income above ₹12 lakh of taxable income is taxed. So the gain in hand is smaller than the gain in CTC.

How should I decide between them?

Compare the fixed pay first, then ask how likely the variable is. If the role and growth are similar, the higher fixed pay is the safer pick.
