Frequently asked questions

Does it work for cheques?

It gives the words in the usual form, for example One Lakh Twenty-Five Thousand Rupees Only. Always check the result against the figures before you write it on a cheque.

What is the difference between the Indian and international systems?

The Indian system groups digits as thousand, lakh and crore. The international system uses thousand, million and billion. So 10,00,000 is ten lakh in India and one million elsewhere.

How big a number can it write?

Far more than any amount you will meet on a form. If a number is too big, the tool says so instead of showing a wrong answer.

Does it handle paise?

Yes. In rupee mode, digits after the decimal point are written as paise.
