IBPS Left Thumb Impression Size: 240 × 240 Pixels, 20 to 50 KB
The short answer
The IBPS PO/MT-XVI notification asks for the left thumb impression as a JPG of 240 × 240 pixels in 200 DPI (that is 3 cm by 3 cm), with a file size between 20 KB and 50 KB. Put the print on white paper in black or blue ink. If the left thumb is missing, the notification lists which finger to use instead.
Copy the numbers from your own exam notice: sizes change from year to year and between exams.
The file is made exactly 240 × 240 pixels and under 50 KB (you are told if it ends up below 20 KB). It is counted as 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so it fits whether the website counts 1,000 or 1,024.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my thumb impression rejected as unclear?
Most often there is too much ink, which fills the ridges, or too little, which leaves gaps. Roll the thumb gently once and do not press twice. Photograph it in even light, flat on the table.
Can I use the clean-up option for a thumb print?
Yes. It whitens the paper and darkens the ink, then trims the empty space so the print fills the frame, which helps the print look sharp at 240 × 240 pixels.
Is the thumb impression compulsory?
The notification lists it with the other uploads. Read the current notification for your recruitment, because the required documents can change between cycles.
