The short answer

UGC NET uses the same 10 to 200 KB range as other NTA exams and lets you choose colour or black and white. The latest bulletin I could read is June 2025, so check the notice for your cycle before you upload. It names no pixel size either, so the tool below uses 413 × 531.

Copy the numbers from your own exam notice: sizes change from year to year and between exams.

The file is made exactly 413 × 531 pixels and under 200 KB (you are told if it ends up below 10 KB). It is counted as 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so it fits whether the website counts 1,000 or 1,024.

Your files stay on your device. This tool runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is the UGC NET photo rule the same every cycle?

It has been the same in recent bulletins I could read, but the NTA can change it. The page says which bulletin it was read from, and you should always check the one for your cycle.

Can I upload a scanned photo?

Yes, a scan or a phone photo both work as long as the picture is clear and the file stays within the size range. Do not upload a photo of a printed photo if the face is blurred.

What size should the UGC NET signature be?

The same bulletin gives 4 KB to 30 KB for the signature. See the UGC NET signature page for the steps.
